Pediatric Interim Care Center, The
Newborn Nursery, (PICC) is a one-of-a-kind, model program that
provides specialized, 24-hour care for drug-exposed and medically
fragile newborns. PICC brings babies safely through withdrawal from
drugs, including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, methadone, and
prescription drugs. The pioneering program also facilitates
visitation for families, provides caregiver training, follows the
babies after they leave, and offers a range of community outreach
and education services. PICC is in Kent, Washington, 20 miles
southeast of Seattle and is the only 24-hour care center serving
drug-exposed infants throughout Washington State.

The
25th Annual
Lawman 1000 Charity
Ride
The Lawman 1000 motorcycle
charity ride has been supporting non-profit groups across Washington
State for the last 25 years and supporting PICC for the last eight. On June 28th, they
headed out for
their last ride as a group. Their destination: the Chinook Winds Casino
in Lincoln City, Oregon.
There were over 560 riders that rode the nearly 1000 mile round trip run
over two days. We have had the privilege to have been associated with this group of law
enforcement and fire fighters and were very
honored to be a
part of this special event.
Special thanks to:
-The Lawman 1000 Board
-Riders who have supported PICC and raised over $215,000 over the past 8
years
-Donors of raffle prizes and auction items
-The many volunteers who helped with the event
Please check back. We
will post the results of this year's ride and list the names of the
raffle and auction winners! |
PICC’s
Annual Luncheon Raises $77,000
THANK YOU
to the 450 guests who helped raise $77,000 at PICC’s Building the Future
luncheon Friday, June 16, at the Southcenter DoubleTree. KIRO 7
Eyewitness News Anchor Margo Myers was master of ceremonies for
the annual event hosted by PICC’s Board of Directors.
Washington State Senator Margarita Prentice was honored at the
event for her “tireless dedication to the children of Washington
State.” Sen. Prentice’s support was critical to the founding of PICC
and to the program’s continued funding by the state legislature.
The event
included entertainment by the Kentridge High School Choraliers, a
drawing for a Holland America Cruise, and a live auction for
Alaska Airlines tickets led by Auctioneer Larry Snyder.
Thanks to our
generous luncheon sponsors, all money donated at the luncheon will go
directly to the care of drug-exposed newborns at PICC. Title Sponsors
of the luncheon were Dr. and Mrs. Peyton Gaunt; Tecton Corporation,
a property management company; and Hooked on Hydronics, Inc.
Table sponsors were Duncan & Haley Ltd., Summit Capital, Lisa Talbott
and Kriss Edwards, Robert Odegard DDS, Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance, and
PEMCO Financial Services.
Next year’s luncheon is set for
Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Southcenter DoubleTree. We are already
looking for sponsors, table captains, and enthusiastic guests.
