THANK YOU!! For the past 5 years, we have seen the number of newborns entering the nursery nearly double. With this increase, the associated expenses also doubled. PICC was finding it could no longer continue to absorb these costs and asked the state for help. On July 1, they responded by increasing the number of babies they would support to 17. Now, in addition to caring for more newborns, we can also provide better support to communities across the state. With PICC’s costs
running nearly 95% less than hospital care, the saving to taxpayers
will also be evident. As our first increase in state funded beds in
15 years, we are so appreciative to those in the legislature who
recognized the need and especially to Senator Margarita Prentice and
Rep. Dave Upthegrove for spearheading the legislative support in
both the House and the Senate. Thank you!

For 13 years, everyone at PICC has looked forward to Lorraine Cohee’s weekly volunteer shift. Her sunny disposition, hard-working nature, and gentle caring for the babies lighten the load and brighten the day. She’s long been one of the lead volunteers, who help with the training of those who are new to the job. The staff especially appreciates the irresistible homemade cookies she often brings. Now Lorraine tells us that the time has come for her to retire from her regular volunteer position. We will miss her terribly; but even more, we thank her for all the years and all the love she has given PICC’s babies. |

If you’re among those who contributed to PICC’s new building by purchasing bricks, come by and see the Brick Registry now installed in the lobby. Purchaser’s can buy 1 ($35), 3 ($100), or 10 ($300) bricks in the Capital Campaign’s Brick by Brick Program. In lieu of engraving, these “virtual” bricks are registered in the name or names of the purchaser’s choice. You can see the registry list by clicking here.
