FEEDING

When feeding your baby, it will be necessary to control your baby's body so he can concentrate on nippling his formula. Your infant will not be able to close his mouth around the nipple without your support. The support will come in the C-position, hands forward to the chest, legs up and chin down and forward.

The infant is trying to do three things a once: control his body, suck and breathe.  But he can only doing two things at once.  Since we cannot breathe or suck for the baby, we can help him control his body. He can then close his mouth around the nipple and suckle appropriately.
