LUNCHEON RAISES $84,000!

Thank you to the nearly 400 guests who helped raise $84,000 at PICC’s Building the Future luncheon Friday, June 8, at the Southcenter DoubleTree.  KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Anchor Margo Myers was master of ceremonies for the annual event hosted by PICC’s Board of Directors.
Featured speakers included Congressman Dave Reichert, Washington State DSHS Secretary Robin Arnold-Williams, and Washington State Rep. Dave Upthegrove.  Morgan Smith, a teenager who spent the first weeks of her life recovering from prenatal drug exposure at PICC, spoke about her grandparents’ positive influence in her life.  Lt. Gov. Brad Owen also participated in the program, singing “Thank God for Kids.”
The event included a drawing for a Holland America Cruise and a live auction for Alaska Airlines tickets led by Auctioneer Larry Snyder.
Thanks to our generous luncheon sponsors, all money donated will help complete funding of PICC’s new building.  Title Sponsors of the luncheon were Dr. and Mrs. Peyton Gaunt and Tecton Corporation, a property management company.  Table sponsors were Duncan & Haley Ltd., Summit Capital, Landmark Development, Summit Properties, and Arndt Company.

Next year’s luncheon is set for Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Southcenter DoubleTree.  We are already looking for sponsors, table captains, volunteers – and, of course, enthusiastic guests.  Click here for more information.

PICC Launches PSA Campaign

Last year PICC was able to care for 214 infants, but we know that 50 times that many drug-exposed babies were born in Washington State.  Reaching out to those infants and their caregivers in the community is also an important part of PICC’s mission.  As one component of that outreach effort, PICC has launched a Public Service Announcement campaign with Seattle area television stations.
The spots direct viewers to this website and to PICC’s 24-hour information hotline to find out what they can do to help the littlest victims of drug abuse.  The campaign emphasizes three important steps:  Learn, Advocate, and Support.  (Follow links at right for more information.)
You can help us make our PSA campaign more effective! Click here to send an email to local stations, asking them to give generous airplay to this important message.  Don’t forget to sign before sending!
